To mark its 10th anniversary and Teachersโ Day, the Education Department of SZABIST Karachi organized a panel discussion titled โFrom Challenges to Change: Sustaining Education through Collaboration.โ The event brought together prominent educationists, policymakers, and stakeholders to deliberate on the role of partnerships in transforming education.
Ms. Shahnaz Wazir Ali, President of SZABIST University, formally welcomed the distinguished guests, faculty members, students, and participants to celebrate Teachersโ Day and to mark the 10-year journey of the Education Department. In her remarks, she emphasized that there are multiple commitments, diverse lives, and different pathways, yet every individual recognizes the vital role of teachers. She added that this is a collective journey, and by bringing it into our conversations, we can create a lasting impact.
On the special invitation of Prof. Dr. Najamonnisa Khan, Head of the Department of Education, SZABIST University, Mr. Gahanwer Ali Laghari, Managing Director of the Sindh Education Foundation (SEF), Government of Sindh, participated in the panel discussion. He was accompanied by Ms. Mona Zubedi, Deputy Director, Advocacy & Communication Unit (ACU), SEF, and Mr. Sanjay Mathrani, Assistant Director, Public Relations Officer, SEF.
Speaking in the panel discussion, Mr. Laghari highlighted SEFโs pioneering role in advancing education through collaboration. He noted that SEF works with more than 1,400 partners including organizations and individuals from diverse backgrounds and emphasized that โthe public-private partnership model of the Sindh Government is the best model of collaboration.โ
Mr. Laghari further shared that SEFโs interventions, ranging from digital education through micro-schools to Foundation Assisted Schools, the Adult and Adolescent Learning and Training Program, and the Adopt-a-School Program, reflect collective success and are creating transformations at both grassroots and stakeholder levels.
Other distinguished panelists included Prof. Dr. Shahnaz Wazir Ali, President SZABIST, Dr. Fatima Rehan Dar, and Mr. Daman Bozdar. They emphasized that effective collaboration is central to ensuring meaningful impact in education.
Concluding the discussion, all speakers underscored that isolation is not the way forward and stressed the importance of collective action in sustaining education.
The event was attended by representatives from academia, educational development organizations, policymakers, and professionals from various walks of life, marking a significant contribution to the ongoing discourse on education in Pakistan.
